Phoenix, AZ – The recent G365 Phoenix Classic gave us an opportunity to see some of top ranked Southwest regional teams compete against each other in the same gym. After a competitive weekend, three teams would claim the top ranking in the Southwest region: 2023 Blue Chip Nation, 2025 Sky Riders, and the 2026 AZ Monstarz.
The 2023 Blue Chip Nation may have lost an early Saturday Pool game to #10 SW Region Young Americans, but they made an impressive run during Sunday’s bracket game play that ended with a 45-43 victory over formerly #1 ranked Give N Go. The victory over Give N Go is quite impressive given that Give N Go is a legitimate Top 10 G365 team that is well coached and talented. 2023 Micah Wilkerson earned MVP honors for his terrific performance on Sunday.
The 2024 AZ Legends continue to impress as they took home the 13U division and moved up to #13 in the G365 rankings. Jordan Lee (AZ Legends) took home the MVP in a field that also included impressive performances by Divinity’s Myles Risi and Private Lessons’ Devone Pless. The trio of Lee, Risi and Pless have been some on the top performers we’ve seen this fall season and we look forward to seeing them compete at EBC Arizona in January.
The 12U division featured a great championship game match-up between G365 #10 Sky Riders and G365 #22 AZ Best Select. The Sky Riders, behind MVP, Kalek House and All-Tourney, Tayvion Wilson packed a little too much firepower in the championship game and defeated a tough AZ Best Select squad. The division also featured G365 #15 AZ Monstarz who fell to Sky Riders in the semi-finals.
In the 11U division, the SW top ranked team, AZ Monstarz took home the championship. In the 10U division, G365 #12 Sky Riders took home the crown. Joseph Lindsey (AZ Monstarz) earned 11U MVP honors and Isaiah Rider (Sky Riders) earned 10U MVP honors.
