“The Finals” tournament showcased 243 exceptional teams from various regions in a celebration of its 10th anniversary hosting the best Orange County youth basketball tournament. Teams traveled from thousands of miles away including Hawaii, Arizona, NorCal, Las Vegas, Utah, and as far as Taiwan (6,000 miles away!) The weekend was filled with intense battles on the court, as these teams were battle tested and were competing to be in the G365 rankings. Each game brought forth a great slate of matchups, highlighting the talent and dedication displayed by the players. As the tournament drew to a close, anticipation grew, leaving programs, players, and parents wondering which team would come out victorious and earn the prestigious title of the number one ranked team.
- The 10U division had great competition all weekend long but the team to beat was Vegas Elite Basketball Club. They had 10U MVP Malcolm Pegues and all-tournament Maxwell Mikell, this dynamic duo had a tough first loss against the #1 Inglewood Guard Dawgs but that didn’t seem to faze them. VEBC continued to win four in a row against some solid teams such as AVAC Hawk Hoops, OGP and a championship game win against Oakland Soldiers. Maxwell Mikell had 13 points and 8 rebounds in the championship game and his teammate Malcolm Pegues finished with 13 points, 4 rebounds, and 4 steals. Vegas Elite will finish the Summer season as the #2 ranked G365 team in the 10U division behind Inglewood Guard Dawgs.
- In the 11U division MVP Braedon Gupilan was a man on a mission as he started the tournament with a double double that consisted of 24 points and 12 rebounds and finished the tournament with 23.6 PPG and 9.4 RPG. AVAC Komplex Sports dominated but was battle tested in their last game of the tournament against 360 Basketball and all-tournament Blake Lazenby. They went back and forth all game long but AVAC Komplex Sports finished strong and claimed their trophy after a 55-51 win. AVAC Komplex Sports will finish the Summer season as the #1 ranked G365 in the 11U division.
- The 12U Gold division had one of the best championship games of the weekend as the IE Sixers took on 360 Basketball. Myan Walker was battling with Micah Johnson for MVP honors. Myan Walker scored all of his points from beyond the arc as he finished with 21 points and 7 threes. Micah Johnson finished with 22 points and 5 threes but couldn’t get the win as 360 Basketball won 55-53. Both teams battled hard but 360 Basketball prevailed and finished with an undefeated weekend. The championship at the Finals paved the way for 360 Basketball to finish the Summer season as the #1 ranked G365 team in the 12U division.
- The 13U Gold division was filled with great talent such as Oakland Soldiers, IE Sixers, Vegas Elite Premier but Bakersfield TTP showed they were the best team in the 13U division. Malique Davis led the charge as he earned MVP honors and finished the tournament with 12 PPG and 2 SPG. Bakersfield TTP was battle tested by the Oakland Soldiers in the championship game. Jacob Kress did everything he could to help his squad win but the Soldiers came up short as they lost to Bakersfield TTP with a final score of 49-38. With the Finals victory, Bakersfield TTP ascended to the top ranked 13U team in the G365 rankings.
- In the 14U division MVP Asante Johnson helped his Payton’s Place Elite squad come out of the Finals with a championship trophy but it wasn’t easy. They had to go through three tough squads in OP-B Elite, ProSkills, and Wolf Pack Training D1 who they played twice. MVP Asante Johnson had a rough first stint against Wolf Pack Training D1 but when they played again in the championship game he dropped an impressive 33 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 steals. This Finals victory along with their Memorial Day NorCal Championship gives Payton’s Place the undisputed G365 #1 ranking for the Summer session.
